1. Q: What is the purpose of a heat press?
A heat press is a machine that presses a transfer onto a transferable substrate. Using high temperatures and high pressures for a certain period of time, the transfer is permanently embedded in the product.
Heat presses are recommended for professional and satisfactory results simply because standard laminating devices and home hand irons cannot even reach the temperatures required for reliable transfer. Standard transfers require anywhere from 180 to 220 degrees of pressure. These temperatures and pressures are simply not possible with other heated devices.
